Red Wine - 2014 Waimea Pinot Noir, Nelson, New Zealand

Like a fine Burgundy, the nose is very perfumed displaying blueberry, dark cherry and floral with subtle game and spice. Lovely medium intensity is extended by very fine silky tannins. The floral aroma on the nose is reminiscent of red carnations lightly touched with cinnamon. These flavours carry through onto the palate that is succulent and concentrated with silky texture and supple tannins that linger in the gently warming finish. It’s pristine while showing elegant layers of texture and savoury characters. Though really enjoyable now, this wine will reward medium term cellaring with enhanced complexity.
